Confirmation for all who attend the Traditional Latin Mass in the Diocese of Lafayette will be scheduled for next May, 2025. Please read the information on this page carefully in order to register your child to receive the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation. Who Can Register?Anyone of the normal Confirmation age range of 13-17 who desires to receive the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation in the Traditional Latin Rite may register. On a case by case basis in the past Bishop Deshotel has sometimes approved those under the normal Confirmation age to be Confirmed. He has specifically given permission for those whose families regularly assist at the Traditional Latin Mass and are of a younger age. We intend to collect all the names of the youth seeking confirmation ages 7-12 now and submit them to the Bishop at one time. Please note there is a chance that those under 13 will not be approved.

Register Now
You will need to submit 2 registration forms online, one for your child and one for their sponsor. These forms are due no later than Palm Sunday, 2025. If your child is younger than 13, we will be submitting their name to the Bishop the following week for his requested permission and will update you on the results as we receive them via email or text.

In-Home Formation with Interview
Preparation and Formation for the Holy Sacrament is to be given at home and will conclude with a 10 minute interview with Fr. Vidrine. Children ages 7-10 should prepare by memorizing the prayers and basic answers found in the "St. Joseph First Communion Catechism (No. 0 of the Baltimore Catechism)." Youth ages 11-17 should do the same as well as memorize the prayers and answers found in "Preparation For Confirmation" prepared by Angelus Press. We are hoping to organize a non-mandatory retreat day at some time before the ceremony.
